Privacy Policy for Storage Detective
About this policy
Storage Detective is provided by Aktyva konsaltynh technologies. This policy describes data handling in the current Android application. Privacy questions can be sent to mateuszbednarski696@gmail.com.
Data access and on-device processing
Storage Detective analyzes the folder you choose through Android’s system folder picker, including accessible subfolders. It does not scan all device files automatically. Android and the selected document provider control which locations are accessible and whether files can be deleted.
The app accesses file names, paths, document identifiers, sizes, modification dates, and deletion permissions. It uses file extensions to group files into categories. For files that share the same size, it reads their contents and calculates SHA-256 hashes on your device to identify matching copies. File details and hashes are held in memory for the current session rather than saved as a detailed file database.
The app also reads total and available space on the device’s internal data volume to display storage usage. This measurement includes space used by the system and other apps; it does not give Storage Detective access to those apps’ private files.
Purposes
The app processes this information to display storage totals, browse and search scanned files, sort and filter results, identify duplicate copies, prepare storage reports, and let you review files for cleanup. No account is required.
Collection and transmission
The inspected application performs file analysis on your device. No developer-operated upload service, advertising, analytics, tracking, or automatic transmission of scan results was identified in the current source or declared dependencies. The Android manifest includes Internet permission, but the current application flow does not use it to upload your files or scan information.
Folder providers available through Android’s picker may have their own storage or network behavior. Accessing files through those providers is subject to their services and privacy practices.
Saved information and retention
The app saves the latest 30 scan summaries in its private local preferences. Each summary contains the scan date and time, selected folder label, file count, and combined file size. Older summaries are replaced as new summaries exceed this limit. There is no separate time-based expiration.
Detailed scan results, including file paths and duplicate-comparison hashes, remain available during the current session. A new successful scan replaces the previous detailed results.
The app requests persistent read and write permission for the selected folder when the provider supports it. Android may retain that permission beyond the current session. Clearing scan history does not revoke folder permissions.
Android backup is enabled in the current application configuration. Saved app information may therefore be included in operating-system backup and restoration, depending on device settings and the backup service. Backup retention and protection are controlled by that service.
Sharing and third-party components
Reports are shared only when you choose Share report and select a destination through Android’s sharing interface. A report contains the scan date and time, selected folder label, file count, total size, category totals, duplicate-copy size, and count of unavailable entries. It excludes individual file names, individual file paths, file contents, and hashes. The selected folder label is included and may itself reveal information about that folder.
The receiving app or service handles the report under its own privacy practices. Copies you share are outside Storage Detective’s control.
The inspected dependencies include AndroidX, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, and coroutine libraries used to operate the app. No advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDK was identified. Some failures are written to local Android diagnostic logs, which may include technical exception details. The app does not implement automatic upload of those logs.
Deletion and your choices
You can remove saved summaries using Settings > Clear scan history. This does not delete your files or clear the current detailed scan results. Android’s app settings also provide controls to clear local app data or uninstall the app. Copies retained by backup services or report recipients are governed by those services.
Source-file deletion is a separate action. You select files, review their combined size, and confirm permanent deletion. Deletion occurs only where the document provider permits it. There is no automatic cleanup. Back up important files before confirming deletion.
For privacy or deletion questions, contact mateuszbednarski696@gmail.com. The current app has no account or developer-hosted scan database to delete remotely. Locally stored information must be managed on your device; shared reports and backups may require separate action with their providers.
Security
The app uses Android’s system folder-access mechanism and private app preferences, and performs duplicate detection locally. No app-specific encryption of saved summaries was identified. Because the app does not implement a scan-upload service, there is no app-managed transmission-encryption practice to describe. Protection of reports sent through another app depends on that app or service. No storage or security measure can guarantee complete protection.
Children’s privacy
The supplied information does not establish an intended age group. The current app has no registration or age-verification feature and no identified mechanism for sending children’s personal information to the developer. File and folder names can contain personal information regardless of the user’s age. Contact the privacy address with concerns involving a child’s information.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated when the app’s features or data practices change. Review the current policy for updated information. The current app does not implement a dedicated privacy-policy change notification feature.
